Dave Lee, W6ZL, was first licensed at age 13 in 1966. His first "real" job was as Marine Radio Service Technician. He still holds a general radiotelephone operator's license with ship radar endorsement.

Dave started getting more active in Ham Radio after moving back to Newport Beach in 1992. At that time he upgraded to Extra. He currently enjoys HF DX'ing and CW contesting, and is an "intermediate" DXer with 215 countries.

His other pastime is sailing. He served as Bowman on "AMANTE", a 48 foot racing sloop from Newport.

Dave says, "I have lots of experience climbing sailboat masts. That's why I have so much fun at ANZA climbing towers! They are much easier -- they don't wave around nearly so much!"
